May 24, 2012 · S4 (B8 Platform) Discussion - S4 vs. S5 - So, I've been away for a while (moving, new job, etc.), so maybe this has been commented on already. Anyhow, I was reading about the forthcoming S6 and became curious about the S5 as compared to the S4. According to Audi's website: the S5 weighs 66lbs LESS than the S4, has In fact, Audi once said that the early V8 R8s wish they had the RS5 V8. So the comparison of the B8 S5 is apples and oranges to the B8.5 RS5 in terms of motor. It doesn't have anywhere near the problems the old S5 V8 has and as long as you keep them carbon cleaned, the 4.2 in the RS5 is nearly bulletproof. Jan 31, 2018 · B8.5 and B9 are such different animals, IMO it's hard to even have a fair comparison. IMO if you want a much more refined vehicle with virtual cockpit, than the B9 is the way to go. The B8.5 tho does not feel outdated and like VV said the ergonomics are much more intuitive/convenient on the B8.5 vs. the B9. Mar 29, 2017. #6. If it's for a daily commute, definitely have a look at an S4 with then adjustable dampers. There is a marked difference between comfort and dynamic. I'd say that the 435gc has a nice cabin/interior but the S4 is still a nice place to be. Might also be worth looking at S5 sport back if you're considering 435 gc. Apr 6, 2022 · The B8.5 fixed many of the initial complaints about the RS5.There's also the slightly updated cabin tech. Slightly newer MMI with Audi connect, however since the 3G networks are being sunset one after the other, the connectivity won't last long. As far as the engine goes, there were changes in the B8.5 also to mitigate the carbon buildup issue. Overall, an upgrade but more on the evolutionary side of things, not revolutionary. However, you are coming out of a B8 whereas I was coming out of a B8.5 - I think you will see this as a much bigger upgrade. Jan 1, 2010 · I was speaking only about my B8 S4 and the B9 S4 on order. The A5/S5 typically use a lower offset than the A4/S4. A4/S4 wheels can be used on A5/S5 though you would likely want to add spacers to fill out the fenders. A5/S5 wheels are a tight fit on A4/S4 as they will sit further outwards due to the lower offset. AP8Z.
